Ed GreeneEd Greene, Ph.D.

An early childhood professional with over 30 years of experience in the field, Ed Greene is an independent consultant with EM Greene Associates. He completed his undergraduate degree in music at the DePauw University School of Music; his M.A. in Child and Human Development at Pacific Oaks College, and his Ph.D. in Child Development and Early Learning at Indiana State University. Ed has worked with infants, preschool children, and adults, and has served in a variety of capacities in governmental and non-governmental settings, including: The Detroit Free School; the Children's School of Pacific Oaks College, Head Start-Staff Development; The Discovery Channel's "Ready, Set, Learn" initiative; High/Scope Educational Research Foundation and demonstration preschool; The National Association for the Education of Young Children-Information Services Director; The National Coalition for Children and Youth—Ford Foundation Public Policy Internship Program Director; and Michigan Legislature-- Legislative/Administrative Aide; the Milken Family Foundation (Director of Programs, Center for Educational Programs); Ford Motor Company/UAW Family Service Learning Centers Initiative (Bright Horizons/Family Focus Consultant); and the Early Childhood Work Group of the NJ State Department of Education;

For four years, Dr. Greene was a member of the Pacific Oaks College online faculty (1998-2002), and, has served as a full-time Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education at Lehman College of the City University of New York (1998-2000), and as a full-time Associate Professor in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, and Literacy Education, within the School of Education and Human Services, Montclair State University in New Jersey (2001-2003). Coursework taught has included: developing anti-bias curriculum, family, school and society, and early childhood program leadership. Ed has served as an elected member of the Governing Board of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and currently serves on the boards of Jumpstart for Young Children, Educational Equity Concepts, the National Center for Learning Disabilities Professional Advisory Committee, and the boards of the Council for Professional Recognition (which administers the Child Development Associate, National Credentialing Program), and Young Audiences of New Jersey. Dr. Greene has recently consulted on projects for the following: The Early Childhood Leadership Institute at the University of the District of Columbia; Children’s Futures, Trenton, NJ; and Discovery Kids, The Discovery Channel. Dr. Greene is also a professional group facilitator specializing in team building, strategic thinking, and organizational development.

Ed is currently head of Global Outreach for Sesame Workshop.
