WALT DISNEY COMPANY

Description - When 3 muppet fans learn that Tex Richman wants to drill under the muppet theater for oil Gary, Mary and Walter set out to find the muppets who have been split up for years Kermit lives in his own mansion depressed in Hollywood, Gonzo is a high class plumber at Gonzo's Royal Flush, Fozzie performs with a tribute band called The Moopets , Miss Piggy is the plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, and Animal is at a celebrity anger management rehab center in Santa Barbara. Starring Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Eric Jacobson, Dave Doelz, Bill Barretta and Steve Whitmire
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - I love this movie a lot because it is really funny and kind of weird. There is a lot of singing and catchy music in the movie that I really enjoy. This movie is all about a guy named Gary and his brother Walter (who is a Muppet even though he doesn't live with the Muppets). They go on a huge adventure with Mary (Gary's girlfriend) to see the Muppets and see why they aren't doing their show anymore. When they are there they learn that there is a greedy oil tycoon who wants to tear down the Muppet Theater. Some of the main characters in the movie are Gary, Mary, Walter and the whole Muppet gang. My favorite character is Walter because he has an amazing talent that he doesn't know about until he learns that he can be a Muppet if he wants to and if he tries hard enough. He is a great character because he believes in the Muppets and never gives up on them. My favorite part in the movie is when the whole gang gets back together and makes another show. It is a really funny show and they do it so they can save their studio. I recommend this movie for all ages, even preschoolers, because there are no scary parts. There is a lot of music that everyone will enjoy. I also recommend that you stay for the end credits because there are a lot of outtakes shown that are really funny. Go out and see this in theaters. Their letter never arrives because it is stolen by Babar's arch-enemy, Rataxes the Rhinoceros. He wants all of Santa's toys for himself! Can Babar find Father Christmas and save the day for Celesteville?
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - This is a cute movie about the beloved elephant King Babar, and his family. Babar's children and cousin Arthur write a letter to Father Christmas asking him to visit Celesteville. Rataxes the sneaky rhinoceros takes the letter out of the mailbox and eats it. So, Babar decides to try and find Father Christmas so he can personally deliver the message. Does he find him? My favorite characters are Rataxes the rhinoceros, because was just plain silly and he made me laugh, and Babar, because he was determined to find Father Christmas for the children of Celesteville. My favorite scene is Babar in the bathtub having a conversation with the mouse family. They were so cute. LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD, THE (HDNET)       Click Title to View High Bandwidth Online Video Trailer This title has online video!
HDNET MOVIES LLC
Series: FEATURE FILM, AGES 5-8, ANIMATION
Topic - Family
Description - This re-telling of the classic tale features a train engine that refuses to give up, teaching children that they can accomplish anything they put their mind to.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - A modern day telling of a well-known classic, told in a way that young children today can easily relate to. There is a twist in the classic story. The Little Engine is a girl and a "Real Boy" named Richard is accidentally brought into Dreamland, and the tunnel to the Real World is destroyed. The music and bright colorful scenery are very appealing. Little Engine is confident and never gives up. All the characters are very entertaining. Models compassion, kindness, caring for others, never giving up and being confident in oneself. Shows respect and how to be a good friend. The bullies in the story are faced and dealt with respectfully. I found myself rooting for the Little Engine as she makes it over the mountain into the Real World.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - This movie is about a little engine in Dreamland that delivers things that kids wish for, like a doll, from Dreamland to the kids in the real world. But, "oh no!" the tunnel has closed! The trains have to get to the real world from dreamland. What will they do? Why is the tunnel closed? Is there another way to get to the real world and deliver the toys? The music in this movie is very cheerful and happy. It made me feel so hopeful, in a good way! The voices in this move are very blissful. My favorite voice is the clown because she is so goofy! My favorite character is the sock monkey, he is so funny, I love him. I have a sock monkey of my own and now I think that I know how he might sound when he talks. The age range for watching this movie is probably around 2-8 years old. I am 10 and this movie is a little young for me. But for younger ages, they will like it! The message in "The Little Engine That Could" is to keep on trying, even when things get really, really hard. Just have faith in yourself and try, try again. I give "The Little Engine That Could" 3 and one half stars out of 5 stars. But if I were a little younger I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars! It has a great message for young kids, nice animation, and fun characters. KIDS FIRST! Reviewed by Makai Weber Colvin, Age 10, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic

Description - Abby Apple and her fruit friends introduce you to apples, oranges, lemons, pears and plums - and how much fun they are to eat!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Teaches young children about several fruits and their colors. Well-produced, flows nicely and has opportunities for interaction throughout. There is a train of children at the bottom of the screen for the entire production who also interact, which really helps kids feel like participating. The subject matter is appropriate and educational. Also teaches additional facts about fruits. Organized into various fruits and their respective colors, discussing one fruit at a time. Bright colors, clear sound, cute animation, should be very appealing to young children. The train at the bottom was adorable and really added to the entire program.

KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - The colors are bright and it is repetitive, which is great for very young children. The name of the train, Snapatoonies, is catchy. I liked that it covered colors such as gray and pink, and not just the primary colors. A great way to learn about colors and shapes. KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Teaches numbers 0-10 by using example and interaction. The colors are bright, the characters are happy and the production is well-done. The methods and examples are age-appropriate and easy to understand. I particularly like the train that is at the bottom of the screen at all times with kids inside modeling appropriate interaction. Very cute, repetitive, which is good for learning, but not always entertaining. However, the style was very kid-friendly. Perfect for kids just learning to count.

Description - The holidays are coming, and everyone in Wuzzleburg is getting ready for Winter Wonder Wubb Club fun! In this all-new Wubbzy collection, everyone's favorite bendy-tailed buddy pitches in to decorate The Figgity-Fig Tree, fix Walden's snow sculpture and even solve the mystery of the Snow Shoo-Shoo! There's plenty of singing, dancing, hoopty-horns and slippery-sledding too, all in the DVD that celebrates the ultimate Wow! Wow! season of caring, sharing and friendship!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - What better time is there to show caring and compassion for friends? Holiday time in Wuzzleburg is great fun when you are surrounded by your best buddies. Join Wubbzy and the gang as they build snow sculptures and go sledding. But even in all the fun, as we all know, sometimes things go awry. Even during the holidays. It's up to Wubbzy and his sidekicks, Walden and Daizy and Widget to work together to make things holiday happy. They do this by sharing with each other, reaching out to help others through kind actions and by letting others reach out to help them. Cute songs will have your little ones dancing and singing along. This DVD promotes balanced appreciation of self and others. In a manner suitable for its intended audience.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - The adventures with Wubbzy are always fun. I love how Widget always builds something even though something funny happens out of it and it ends out not working like the Snowplower 3000 when a bird pressed a button then the snowman fell. It showed that you can solve things by thinking hard and with some friends to help. It looked and sounded great. It was almost like a play even though it was animated. Someone in a play couldn't do what they do, like bounce on a tail.

Description - This Spanish language sing-along music video features all kinds of trucks. Includes construction, logging, fire trucks, tractors, monster trucks, garbage, snow-plows, dump trucks, steam shovels and lots of exciting action and sounds. Award-winning music by James Coffey.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Educational, positive and interesting. Appeals to kids specifically interested in trucks. I like that the film is in Spanish and yet, any kid who likes trucks can enjoy it without necessarily understanding the lyrics. Upbeat music with pictures of real tractors and trucks. Though slightly grainy, the cinematography is excellent. Great informational video showing trucks from John Deere to Caterpillar at work, race cars racing, trucks moving snow and slush to clean streets, mail trucks delivering mail and sanitation trucks picking up garbage. Really captures trucks in action and at work.

Description - This sing-along music video features all kinds of aviation machines, including jet fighters, jumbo jets, float planes, air shows, old planes, ultra-light, NASA Shuttle, tribute to early aviators, USAF museum, aircraft carriers and more. Music by James Coffey.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - High paced airplanes and cool tricks by the pilots are fun to watch. The vantage point of the pilot is a great asset. Amazing shots of airplanes accompanied by background music. The ability to see the complexity of flying and the beauty of the clouds around the planes is a wonderful lesson for any child. I would like words on the screen, or a bonus section on the DVD, so kids could actually learn about the planes themselves: what type of plane and other facts. Visually appealing, entertaining and fun!
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - "Cool!" "Awesome." "Fun to watch." Boys were glued to the screen and even singing some of the lyrics that were easy and catchy. Kids like that planes were going fast, twist and go upside down. Kids enjoyed seeing the different locations, like San Francisco. "They look real, I wonder how they filmed them." Kids are very interested in learning more about planes. "The planes did cool tricks and are cool colors." "I want to learn about planes and how they fly." KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - This title is fantastic on so many levels. "Good Night Moon" takes a classic, simple story and makes it come alive through gentle animation. As the story is read aloud, the words to the story show up on the screen, encouraging children to read. While it's read, a woman signs the story using American Sign Language (ASL). This title makes it fun to learn to read and to sign at the same time. It's perfect for children with Down's Syndrome or children who are hearing impaired, and can encourage other children to learn ASL so they can communicate with children who sign. It can promote discussion on different means of communication. Bonus Features include an area where children can take a quiz to see what they remember about the story. Another feature is a quiz section that has children testing their knowledge of sign language and signing letters. If you have Internet access, a third Bonus Feature allows you to download activities related to ASL and the story.

Description - No bigger than her mother's thumb, a small, lonely girl longs for companionship. Her wish is granted by the prince of the fairies. However, she must use the power of friendship to save her life once she is kidnapped by a mischievous toad.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - This movie is about a girl the size of a thumb. Thumbelina wants to know if there are other people like her, people that are her small size. Her mom shows her a book about fairies, and she is overjoyed, but her mom is afraid that it will be hard to find any fairies. But surprise, a fairy prince comes to her door and Thumbelina begins her adventure. My favorite scene in this movie is when Thumbelina is sleeping with her head under a bird's wing. I like the music in Thumbelina very much because there are so many great songs. Thumbelina is a musical so be prepared for a load of fun music! Thumbelina is played by the great Jodi Benson, she's best known as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, one of my favorite movies. Benson has such a graceful tone that makes every song a joy to hear. I think Thumbelina is a movie for all ages, except some teens and tweens might get bored with the story line. Also boys who are not into fairies may not enjoy it. I give this movie 4-out-of-5 stars. Description - ON YOUR TRACKS…GET SET…GO! It's time for The Chugger Championship - the race that all of Chuggington has been waiting for! Join Wilson, Brewster and Koko as they set off, full-speed ahead, to win the race. Excitement along the rails ensues as the three young trainees get ready for an important test, invent a new contest, start a fun hobby and learn to accept responsibility. They even discover that a true champion isn't always the one who crosses the finish line first. These six exciting new adventures will have your own little chuggers ready for action, adventure and accountability, too!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Addresses good sportsmanship and responsibility. When they race, we learn not to cheat or be a sore loser. Teaches us that slow and steady wins the race, and not to be irresponsible or selfish. Almost all six short videos teach a child to respect themselves as well as others, in the course of competition, and that competition can be fun for all - not just the winner.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - The children viewers really enjoyed the stories in Chuggington Championship. Most of the stories in this DVD dealt with competition, sportsmanship, playing fair with others and being kind to each other in the face of competition. The children easily related to the young trains competing with each other and were able to identify inappropriate conduct such as cheating. They also seemed to understand the story of responsibility in that, if you stay up late, you are more likely than not going to oversleep the next morning. Additionally, they loved the ice cream story, although I think they were more sidetracked on how the ice cream train worked and not the message in the story that seemed to be everyone can be a winner! "I like the ice cream train, that is cool." "I want to race." "Cheating is bad, Koko needs to learn."

Description - During an ordinary day in Hundred Acre Wood, Winnie the Pooh sets out to find some honey. Misinterpreting a note from Christopher Robin, Pooh convinces Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo, and Eeyore that their young friend has been captured by a creature named "Backson" and they set out to save him. Starring Jim Cummings, Craig Ferguson, Travis Oates, Tom Kenny and John Cleese.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - I love this movie which follows Winnie the Pooh and his friends on a whole new adventure, based on three of the original stories by author A. A. Milne. All the beloved characters are back – Christopher Robin, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Piglet and of course Pooh Bear. The film opens with sketches of Winnie the Pooh and I immediately know the classic Pooh vibe is back. Sweet, lazy days spent looking for honey, marching across bridges and solving mysteries. When Eeyore loses his tail, his friends hold a competition to find a new one, with fun results. Owl's misunderstanding leads Winnie and his friends off on a wild hunt to find Christopher Robin in the Hundred Acre Wood. An extraordinary cast of actors brings the beloved characters to life for a new generation of kids. My favorites are Travis Oates as the anxious Piglet and Jim Cummings who plays both the humble Pooh Bear and an enthusiastic Tigger. I love the graceful way Zooey Deschanel sings the Winnie the Pooh theme song. She has a voice like an angel. I give this new Winnie the Pooh adventure 5 out of 5 stars. If you loved Winnie the Pooh when you were little, or if you're just meeting him and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood for the first time, you won't want to miss this authentic new addition to the Pooh Bear series. Description - A film adaptation of the popular Disneyland ride in the style of a mockumentary.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - I use to watch Disney's Country Bears all the time when I was younger and when I recently saw it again, it brought a smile to my face and reminded me of my early childhood. I really enjoy this film. The cinematography is great and the colors are vivid and crisp. The design for the bears is cool because it's like a giant talking costume that looks pretty real. I especially like the facial expressions for the bears because they're very realistic. My favorite character is Big Al because he's very funny and has a lot of witty come-backs to the banker, despite his unintelligent appearance. My favorite scene is in the very beginning of the movie because it tells the story of the Country Bears' fame through old newspaper clippings that come to life. I think The Country Bears is for all ages because it is very cute and entertaining for the whole family. I give this film 4 ˝ out of 5 stars because I really enjoy it and I'm sure you will too! Description - Babar discovers important lessons on cooperation, understanding and teamwork as he shares adventures and bonds with his pals. Episodes include: 1)City Ways ; 2)Between Friends; 3)Friendly Agreement; 4)An Elephant's Best Friend.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Babar is an elephant whose mother tragically dies when he is young, and he becomes a very successful adult with a career and family. Teaches life lessons, emphasizing family values, being yourself and working together. Kids learn positive behaviors while being entertained by fun and colorful animation. Teaches positive values and shows respect. Babar and the old lady both are encouraging and respectful. Children are treated nicely, and their opinions are consulted.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - This movie is about an elephant King named Babar. The movie follows Babar as he tells his kids stories about his own childhood. Each story is told as a chapter and teaches a lesson, for example showing the children how to learn through their mistakes. My favorite scene in this movie is when the old lady, Madame, teaches Babar how to get along in the big city. The animation is simple and pleasant, I call it "old school," because the style reminds me of an older cartoon style, like it is drawn by hand and not a computer. The voices in Babar are so friendly, I feel like I am chatting with my own friends. I think all ages can enjoy this movie, although older teens and tweens might get bored with the chapters and lessons. I give this movie 5-out of-5-stars. Review by Makai Weber Colvin, KIDS FIRST! Description - Star race car Lightning McQueen and his pal Mater head overseas to compete in the World Grand Prix race. But the road to the championship becomes rocky as Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Starring voice talent of Larry the Cable Guy, Owen Wilson, Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer and Eddie Izzard.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Animation is for every age, especially when it comes from leaders of the genre at Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures. This sequel to 2006's award-winning movie Cars is in theaters now, and KIDS FIRST! film critic Ny'Asia Bell (age 7) gives us several reasons to make Cars 2 a summer entertainment choice.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - This movie was great - full of fast cars, lots of action and flawless animation. Lightning McQueen is voiced by Owen Wilson, and his long-time best friend, Mater, is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. They accept a challenge from Francesco Bernoulli (John Turturro) to compete in the World Grand Prix in Tokyo. While there, Mater gets mistaken for an American secret agent, and eventually helps to solve a big and dangerous case. My favorite characters are Mater, because of his courage and humor. He is a real hero. Then there are the characters Holley Shiftwell (Emily Mortimer) and Finn McMissile (Michael Caine). I loved all their cool gadgets. My favorite part of the film is when Mater cracks the case and finds out what car is behind all this mayhem. I rate this movie 4 out of 5 stars, because it does contain some violent scenes. I recommend this movie to kids ages 7 and up. Reviewed by Ny'asia Bell, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic, age 7.

Series: SCREENPLAY FOR AGES 8-12

Description - Two boys experience an unusual Christmas Eve.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - In this short screenplay, two kids have a Santa encounter on Christmas Eve. Time honored theme, but not particularly original. The demeanor of the story is sweet and childlike and very kid-appropriate, it portrays the innocence of childhood well. Very little character development, but the boys are very likeable and the dialogue believable. We are impressed with the ability of this ten-year-old writer, Joey DeCourt, who has excellent grammar and is very adept at telling a story. The screenplay would benefit greatly from more detail. Young Joey has a lot of promise as a writer and it will be exciting to watch him mature in his craft.

Young children are encouraged to explore the inclusiveness and acceptance of differences through the use of cute characters and simple intriguing stories.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Nice concept for toddlers. It's like watching your favorite toddler/preschool book, with a lesson about friendship and acceptance. There is no dialogue in this film, but in each section the animals talk to each other via written speech bubbles on the screen. Although the text is short and simple, the intended age group cannot read, which makes an adult or older child's involvement necessary. On the other hand, the spirit of the story comes through, even without any dialogue. Very cute, short and refreshing.

Description - Embark on an amazing journey with Ansel and Clair, and explore three African American interactive locales: Nile Valley, Sahara Desert and Serengeti Plains. Each place has animals, plants, places and landmarks to explore.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - An engaging and educational program filled with interesting facts and an amusing adventure through Africa. Suitable for younger children and engaging enough for middle elementary-aged kids though some kids ages 10 and up may want more challenge and stimulation. Extra puzzles and in-depth information on some of the subjects keep you looking for more. Though kids may be disappointed that there aren't more games or interactive possibilities, this app is a great benefit in an educational setting and has special appeal to kids with an interest in geography or culture. Could grow into a fun educational app series.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - "Easy and fun, one of the best geography games I've played online." "Very realistic, I like learning about different things in Africa." The kids learn interesting things and, for the most part, want to play it again. "I like the space characters from the make believe planet." Interactive and fun, but also educational. Description - Calling all chuggers! Join young trainees Wilson, Brewster and Koko in these six "traintastic" adventures. Watch as they learn how to pull a royal carriage, help Eddie repair the depot clock and take on the challenge of carrying passengers. Along the way, the trainees learn how to play fair, follow through on tasks, practice patience and help each other ride the rails of life. Your own little trainees will want to climb aboard and discover it all for themselves in It's Training Time!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Young trains are in training to be able to start helping out in whatever way suits them best. They all learn how to do things, but not all of them are good at each task. Through the learning process they are asking questions, practicing what they have learned and fixing mistakes they are making. This is excellent modeling for little ones to begin doing the same. All of the characters take their turns making mistakes and learning how to correct them. In "Training Time for Harrison", an "adult" train wants to pull the royal coach and puts obstacles in the way of other trains, so that he will get the job first. He learns that even he has things to learn and can be a better train. Model working together and supporting each other. In "Watch Out Wilson," Wilson needs special mirrors to help him back up. He is afraid the other trains will make fun of him, but instead they cheer and say how much they like his mirrors. Great production values, bright and fun to watch.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Kids are smiling, laughing, playing and talking with each other as they watch. Many want to watch certain parts again. They like the opening song and some sing or dance along. One child even pulled out a box of trains and several children took them and played while watching. "Mommy, see that train, that one. He's funny." Kids talked about it and came back to watch a second time. Children all appear genuinely engaged by the episodes. Equally appealing to kids who were familiar with Chuggington as with the kids who were seeing it for the first time. The children played nicely together and seemed to want to be helpful and include each other in their play.

There's plenty of singing, dancing and friendly firemen too! Climb aboard for tons of fun that pre-schoolers and parents will love again and again in Wubbzy & The Fire Engine!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Lends itself easily to children questioning and using concepts in play. The story lines venture a bit too far from reality and do not adequately show cause and effect of behaviors. Each episode holds a simple story with educational, social and entertainment benefits. Wubbzy and the Fire Engine looks at public service and the desire to help others. Though Wubbzy goes about things the wrong way, it allows for children to learn from their mistakes and ask questions about how they can help. Overall entertaining, and provides a vehicle for parents to discuss topics brought up in the episodes. The characters are very appealing to kids.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Kids comment on what they see on the screen, "that's a fire truck!" "That's funny," said in response to jelly jars smashing and splashing on the characters. Kids want to watch again. They later played roles from the Wuzzleburg Express episode. Children dance along to the songs between episodes. Even when they play during and episode, they still check in to see what is happening on the screen. Two children play fire trucks after observing the Wubbzy and the Fire Engine episode. Incorporating storylines into their play and readily talking to their parents about what they saw. The children were happy and laughed frequently at the activity on the screen.

Description - After accidentally falling off a truck, five shaped rubber bands - Roxie (rock star), Daisy (flower), Edison (light bulb), Ray (TV) and Amelia (airplane) - join together to make their way to the toy store and ultimately onto the wrists of three happy children!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - If your kids are into rubber band bracelets, it's no stretch to imagine they'll be into Bands on the Run: The Rubber Band Movie. Five specialty shaped rubber bands are carelessly left behind on a deserted stretch of desert highway after the box they're in is jostled off the delivery truck. Attempting to "follow that truck" and get back on track to the toy store that's expecting them, they get run over by a speeding car – which turns out to be a good thing, as they happily roll along, stuck to the spinning tire as it unknowingly carries them where they wanted to go.
Shapes and dialog coordinate perfectly in this 50-minute animation, rendered in very elementary form that the youngest of ages can easily follow, although some of the dialog hits a little above that level in wordplay and message. Each of the novelty bands has a unique talent they are proud to show off ("I sparkle," flower-shaped Daisy repeatedly reminds the others), but it's an ordinary rubber band they meet after a second mishap sends them to a recycling center in a garbage truck who really snaps them into focus. "We all have different talents, but we're all made from the same stuff," Stretch tells the novelty bands. "We're a team."
As a team, now, all six continue on their journey to the toy store – and, they hope, the wrist of a novelty-rubber-band-loving child. Suitable for young children, it shows the shaped bands working together as a team and caring for each other, such as when the plain Rubber Band Man (aka Stretch) thinks he isn't anything special, and the other bands tell him how special he really is. Shows compassion, caring and positive behaviors Nicely animated and great sound quality.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - The kids thought this was very funny. They liked the characters. "My favorite is the flower, because she was the happiest." They all wanted to watch again and went looking for their "Silly Bands" once the movie was over. "The music was cool and the bands looked like real cartoon characters." Some kids even said that they learned that they should be nicer to their friends and that everyone is special in some way. "I liked that they make Stretch stay, and how at the end the boy wanted Stretch because he was a Circle, and not one had a Circle shaped band." "There were too many favorite parts, I liked the whole movie!" The children liked that the movie made them laugh and how all the characters got along and cared about each other. Kids laughed and smiled throughout the film, and it kept their attention well.

Description - Follow Nemo's underwater adventure, solve jigsaw puzzles and collect fish tank treasures along the way. Features authentic sounds and sea-worthy images based on the Disney/Pixar movie.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - A simplified story about a popular character. Young children will enjoy having the story read to them, either by an adult or by the voice on the app. Parents can also record their own voice, so when their kids listen they will hear the familiarity of mom or dad. Early readers can read along or record their voices as well. The puzzles are extremely simple to do. All of the features are easy to use, but it took an 8-year old to figure out how to make the recording feature work right. Instead of hitting "record" and recording the story, you have to return to the main menu after each page and ask it again to record. Older kids will get bored quickly, as the story is short and there isn't a lot to do with it, but it is just right in it's ease of use (other than the record feature) and simplicity for toddlers. A great line up addition to keep the little ones engaged on long car trips.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Finding Nemo is about a fish that gets lost in a fish tank with other fish and his dad tries to find him. This app gives you two choices. You can listen to the story being read or you can read it yourself and record yourself reading it. It offers the opportunity for active viewing by doing things such a finding things for your fish tank and working puzzles. It is a bit difficult to do the recording feature, because between every page you have to go back to the recording set up. I liked the record function best because you record your voice and listen to it. It is best suited for ages 2-6, because the story appeals to the younger kids and the puzzles are perfect for this age as well. They are extremely easy. Those preschoolers will enjoy both the puzzles and the story.

Description - Go on a tour of Radiator Springs and get an inside look at all the places your favorite CARS characters call home, while completing fun and challenging puzzles along the way.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Visually appealing app, especially for kids who know the Disney/Pixar movie CARS. The story line is complex enough for preschoolers and kindergarteners, and can be read along by early elementary school students. As you read the story, you also get puzzles to put together. 12-piece puzzles are too complex for toddlers, but very easy to figure out and manipulate by most preschool aged kids. You also get to collect "stickers" on each page, and find out at the end if you have found them all. This makes the app more engaging, giving kids something to work toward.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Kids were interactive and had fun building puzzles. After 2 or 3 times, kids ages 4-5 began to lose interest, however the 2-3 year olds were engaged for about 5 attempts at the program. They enjoyed the puzzles most, and also the scavenger hunt. Description - Spanish immersion DVD. Children love a birthday party, but when is Fritzi's? Join fun-loving Fritzi the mouse for a festive introduction to Spanish language-learning. It's year-round fun as children learn words and phrases in Spanish.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Teaches Spanish to a young audience using pictures, animation and a fun host. Uses Spanish immersion techniques, the person watching has to figure out the meaning of the words through pictures and context. It's appropriate, though challenging. Children as young as one or two-years-old can enjoy this. Stimulates natural curiosity of kids and their ability to learn through immersion. Has a very welcoming feel to it. Friendly and encouraging. Some adults felt the kids needed a more direct connection to the subject in order to make the Spanish word connection to what was being depicted. Children become familiar with a new language, while getting information about the culture of the people who speak the language. Tremendous educational value, because it immerses the child in the Spanish language and they seem more involved in learning the language. Broadens children's global perspective and stimulates language development.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - "It's funny, I like the mouse!" "I liked the Spanish words. The kids in the video are funny." Seemed to appeal more to kids over age 5 and even early teens. Children felt proud when they identified a word correctly. Younger kids sometimes didn't understand what the music was saying, but still got up to dance. Some kids under age five got bored and others frustrated because they didn't understand the material. This seemed to especially resonate for kids over age five, who could follow along with the content and were excited to learn new words. A few of the 5-7 year old girls wanted to learn more Spanish so they could talk to some of their friends from multi-lingual homes.

KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - In this Strawberry Shortcake adventure, Strawberry and her friends discover that rules are important and need to be followed. After one of the girls forgets to tie up the boat one day, it floats out into the middle of the water and creates a problem for the flower babies who get stuck in the mud trying to get the boat back. Children are encouraged to stop and think before saying or doing something that might hurt another. The moral of the story is about honesty and about helping friends who make bad choices. The friends are supportive. Children will like the bright and cheery scenery, and upbeat music.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - This is a cute, funny and colorful movie that takes place in the cute little town called Berry Bitty City. This movie teaches you that all rules are important no matter how small or silly they may seem.
I loved all the characters; I thought they all had a great sense of fashion and berry delicious names. But, I do have my favorites: Strawberry Shortcake because she is always honest with her friends and able to give constructive criticism. Raspberry Tart because she loves fashion and Blueberry Muffin because she loves to read and owns her own bookstore.
I rate this movie 5 out of 5 stars because I think it is a good clean family movie, for people of all ages. I do think little girls might enjoy it better than boys because of all the fashion.

Description - The story of John Henry as told by Denzel Washington, illustrated by Barry Jackson and music by BB King.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Wonderful phone app based on the classic children's book and the original Rabbit Ears videos. I enjoyed the familiarity of Denzel Washington's voice. The illustrations are wonderful. The story, though quite unbelievable, is a fable which tells the story of how machines pushed men out of the job of laying railroad tracks. It has a nice moral in that although a machine might outlast a man, it doesn't necessarily do a better job and there is some sort of soul and feeling put into human effort that is missing with machines. John Henry dies, as he does in the original story, and it's a sad ending to the story.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - "I really like it. It's a great way to enjoy reading the book or watching the video." Even my 15-year-old liked it. My eight-year-old recognized BB King. He really liked the song and sang along each time.

KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Not only will children who love trains enjoy Chugginton, but all children. Each episode is unique, interesting and draws in current technology with futurist technology of what might be possible some day. The episodes are short, appropriately paced for the target preschool audience and their attention span. Chuggington certainly educates effectively; the use of simple, meaningful issues that can be solved quickly without appearing trite which makes it easy to understand and stimulated further discussion. The episodes are not only educationally but socially valuable as they promote working together with everyone. There is no bad guy or any other stereotypes. The heroes and the trains with issues are both male and female. The human interaction with the trains is appropriate and respectful. The production value is appealing and furthers the enjoyment of the episodes.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Children played with trains and made them fly, talking about the first episode where the trains are learning to use jet packs. They mimicked some of the behavior of the trains in the DVD. One child spoke to his mother about helping the other trains. Even the youngest children, whose attention would sometimes be distracted, re-engaged and enjoyed the entire DVD.

Description - Get ready for Barbie: A Fairy Secret, an amazing adventure with Barbie where she discovers there are fairies living secretly all around us! When Ken is suddenly whisked away by a group of fairies, Barbie's two fashion stylist friends reveal they are actually fairies and that Ken™ has been taken to a magical secret fairy world not far away! Barbie and her rival Raquelle take off with the fairy friends on an action-packed journey to bring him back. Along the way they must stick together and learn that the real magic lies not just in the fairy world itself, but in the power of friendship.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Offers examples of good listening skills, interpersonal relationships and how to manage your feelings. It is entertaining, especially for those who already enjoy the Barbie characters. Technically well-produced, the illustrations were clear and precise and the sound was authentic and appropriate. The animation is especially appealing in its colors and details. We learn through the resolution of conflict between Barbie and Raquelle. We witness inappropriate behaviors of jealousy, and later witness the characters ability to talk through their issues and feelings, and overcome them. Though there is not a lot of discernable diversity and the body images of the characters were unrealistically thin, it has a tangible, meaningful, moral and fun story line. Finding friendship when you set aside your jealousy and misunderstandings is a good lesson for anyone to learn.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - "Barbie: A Fairy Secret" is the story of how Barbie discovers that fairies really do exist. When a fairy princess captures her boyfriend Ken, Barbie along with her costar, Raquelle, and two of Barbie's stylists, head out to rescue him from Gloss Angeles, a floating town filled with fairies.
I really like the animation in this movie, especially how each of the characters are drawn. Barbie's eyes glisten like jewels and get me into the fairy mood. Each scene bursts with color, like their hangout - Wally's.
I also love how every piece of clothing has a modern twist. I wish I could have two fairies as my personal stylists. The movie also has great music that makes me want to dance.
Barbie is already friends with her two fashion stylists at the beginning of the movie, but is uneasy around her rival Raquelle. Raquelle is jealous of Barbie, so what will happen when they get twisted up in this magical world together?
When Ken is forced to marry fairy princess Graziella he realizes how much he loves Barbie but lots of trouble stands in their way. Don't worry, because Barbie will do anything to get Ken back.
Girls ages two to ten will really enjoy this movie filled with friends, fashion and adventure. Will Raquelle and Barbie ever be friends? How will they get into the magical world? Will they rescue Ken? Find out when you watch "Barbie: a Fairy Secret." Credit: Makai Weber Colvin, Age 9, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic

WOW! WOW! WUBBZY!: WUBBZY'S EGG-CELLENT EASTER
ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT
Series: TV SERIES, AGES 2-5, ANIMATED
Topic - Family
Description - Nobody celebrates the Easter season quite like Wubbzy and his friends! In these six egg-ceptional episodes, Wubbzy discovers new ways to decorate eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt, celebrates the first day of spring with his kickity-kick ball and has to save the holiday when Easter is cancelled! There are plenty of fun and important lessons in this collection of egg-citing Easter episodes from the town of Wuzzleburg! Episodes include: Eggs Over Easy, Big Bunny Blues, Flower Day Parade, Watch the Birdie, Wubbzy Bounces Back and Flight of the Flutterfly.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Our jurors are real Wubbzy fans, ever since it launched on Nick in 2006. This Easter-themed title was a real hit as well. All the episodes succeed in pushing through the pro-social messages that Wubbzy does so well- teamwork, friendship, sharing, helping, appreciating others, even healthy exercise. It presents a pretty sectarian view of Easter that even non-Christians can enjoy focusing on the Easter Bunny, eggs and springtime rather than religious messages. Each episode offers a different lesson that will excite kids, while informing them. They learn lessons such as, why it is better to do something yourself rather than let a machine do it. Big Bunny Blues offers nutrition and exercise ideas that are easy for young kids to understand. Wonderfully themed, focusing on Easter and Spring activities. Each episode presents a new idea and new information on how people can interact with their surroundings. The characters are fun, friendly and easy to relate to for children.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - Kids loved this and related to the concepts it teaches. The humor is perfect for preschoolers. The episode about the Easter bunny is simply adorable. One child asked, "what would happen really if Easter was cancelled?" "The candy looked yummy in Big Bunny Blues." "The Fluterflies were pretty." "They helped each other decorate eggs, hide the eggs and find the eggs." The kids thought the balloons in Flower Day Parade were silly. One child commented, "I want to be in a parade, how do I get into one?" The kids loved the DVD, especially the Flower Day Parade episode. They were all engaged and excited.

Description - Ocean Annie, Makaio and Fringy are back form the deep in their yellow submarine, the Imagination Explorer, to take you on another adventure to explore California. Go diving with sharks, crabs, lobster, sea stars and find your way to a sea lion rookery! Look for whales and dolphins too.
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - A wonderful film packed full of information about California's sea life. The information is presented in a simple and fun fashion, that is entertaining for a younger audience. Filled with an array of visual stimulus, with amazing cinematography. The clarity of the sea creatures and the brilliance of their colors is eye-catching and sure to attract and draw the audience in. Sure to motivate youngsters to want to learn more about sea creatures. Ocean Annie does an excellent job of respecting her viewers as young children. She is enthusiastic without being condescending. I liked how they introduced the kids to the outfits of a scuba diver. The use of repetition and counting helps to get viewers interact.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - "We were pretending to be scuba divers and taking pictures of all the sea animals. We use our imagination and Ms. Crawley teaches us about the animals." The children were captivated by the colors and the feeling that they were actually in the ocean with the dolphins, sharks, crabs, lobsters, whales and Nemo! "I liked the way the fish all got together in a ball - creating the 'school of fish'." They all enjoyed rewarding themselves with a "sea lion clap!" A couple of the kids started creating motions as if they were swimming. They showed surprise at learning new facts about animals they thought they already knew. "I liked the Scuba diving the best, because it sounded cool to be able to see even more sea animals closer up!" "I really liked how they got near to the fish and they even got a microscopic view on some of them."

ADVENTURES OF OCEAN ANNIE: EXPLORE CORAL REEFS

KIDS FIRST ALL STAR
ADVENTURES OF OCEAN ANNIE: EXPLORE CORAL REEFS
DIVE INTO YOUR IMAGINATION
Series: INDEPENDENT SHORT AGES 5-8
Topic - Nature
Description - Get ready to dive into your imagination and become an Imagination Explorer with cartoon characters Ocean Annie, Makaio and Fringy the Ichthyologist Fish! Together look for sharks and turtles, watch fish take a bath and, if you're lucky, you will find a flamboyant cuttlefish! Travel in a submarine and go scuba diving with Annie Crawley, aka Ocean Annie, on coral reefs around the world. Learn about clownfish, hairy frogfish, dolphins and many more surprises!
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Jurors say - Ocean Annie excels in teaching about marine animals and environments. I can't imagine a child who would not be inspired to want to see these creatures first-hand. The cinematography captures the true natures of the creatures. The easiest way I've seen for children to learn about the ocean. Teaches about how a scuba diver dresses and communicates with hand signals under water. We learn about how fish find their food and about the "fish bath" where they help each other get clean. Rich in information about marine biology. Reflects the idea that children can be given good size portions of information and challenging vocabulary words, even at earlier ages. Live-action, animation and computer generated effects blend to create the diving experience. Some jurors were confused about what age this is geared for, as there are many parts and gestures more appropriate for young children, but the content was clearly interesting for older school-aged kids. Overall a great education on the different species of animals that populate the coral reef.
KIDS FIRST!® Kid Jurors say - We used our imagination and went for a swim in the ocean to see all the cool animals. There were fish who got a bath, one fish opened it's mouth so other fish could get the stuff out , like brushing teeth. We learned dolphins breathe like we do. You have to be safe in the ocean and swim with a friend and use hand signals to talk to each other. "We used our imaginations in a scuba suit and went exploring, saw a lot of fish, we saw a turtle, a whale shark and a lot of creatures." "It was great, amazing, super cool!" The kids participated, answering questions, laughing and singing along to the ocean song. "I have always liked animals and think it is good to learn about them so that we can learn how to keep them safe." Ocean Annie appealed most to the younger kids, but all the kids learned and were engaged. "First we dived into the water and explored the coral reefs. We saw clownfish and shrimp, and Ocean Annie's favorite - SHARKS! We finally made it to the sand place and saw the cuttlefish and learned about its babies."

Description - Two pigs from Connecticut travel down Interstate 95 to go watch the renowned chickens swing-dancing in a park near the Schuylkill River. Wild and woolly. Or, rather: feathery. The original singers of the track, Kevin and Michael Bacon, make spiffy cameo appearances, including some fine glimpses of Kevin Bacon dancing beside some serious chickens. The Bacon Brothers are portrayed as pigs, seeing as they are the Bacon Brothers.
