East Berlin, 1987, and the city is preparing for it's 750 year anniversary. Ten-year-old Kati lives with her brother Matthias and her mom in a council flat in Berlin - Hohenschönhausen. After Kati is talked into taking part in a dancing competition at school she is desperate. Together with Alina, a sporty classmate, she starts to practice in the halls of the council flats. But for the competition they still need the right music - the west-hit 'Surrender' by Jennifer Rush?
