The documentary's focus is on ten very interesting young boys who are trying to make their way through life the best way possible. Other than the boys' natural mischievousness and minor swearing, the mature content is justified (guy talking about being molested, boy admitting to stealing Virgin Mary statue). Great pacing and entertaining from beginning to end. Wonderfully composed and laid-back documentary.
Inspirational and uplifting, this is a story about a group of troubled kids who go to Steve Wozniak's house and have a chance to be themselves and shed the labels put upon them back home. The kids are funny and honest and the caregivers are all very genuine. Camp Woz is at Steve Wozniak's home and yet, it is never a film about him or centered around him. It is about the kids and their journey. Their need to be "normal." It's enjoyable to watch the kids interact and see them emerge from their shells. It is inspiring. It provides enough insight into the lives of the boys so that anyone who watches this film can understand and relate to the individuals. This film demonstrates how our differences aren't necessarily setbacks and that anybody, with enough self-motivation, can find his or her own way to express themselves. Even they can't conform to a pre-structured method of application, there are alternative means of embarking, creating, and producing ideas, artworks and inventions. The best thing about this documentary is that it doesn't exploit the boys for being 'troubled' but helps them realize, by immersing them in a genuinely caring environment, that everybody has troubles. It encourages the kids to grow from their mistakes so that one day they can prosper as productive and happy people. This film is about human potential. Overly long.
