The story about a dog's epic journey across the country, but with a twist. Danny, the boy who finds the dog decides to return Teddy, the President's dog, to his owner. The story is funny and although written for entertainment purposes, it also provides an opportunity to learn about the landscapes, buildings and monuments of Washington, DC. Some minor inaccuracies and poor language, which was unnecessary to the storyline detract from the story and make it less "kid-friendly."
"First Dog," Teddy, is abandoned during an attempt on the President's life. Thousands of miles from home, Danny finds him and discovers that he belongs to the President. Danny runs away from his foster home to return Teddy to the White House.
