This student production gives us a glimpse into the lives of two very strong-willed women. Ultimately, it shows how strong this mother/daughter relationship is - even under the most unfortunate of circumstances. The daughter's lashing out at her mother is understandable since her mother stepped over the boundaries of trust. Her behavior changes when her mother really needs her. This is a well produced college film and the exchanges between the mother and daughter are quite realistic and believable. Good sets, good cinematography, good storyline.
14-year-old Allie Quinn is nothing like her mother, a tough woman devoted to the dream of breeding champion thoroughbreds even as her small farm crumbles around her. Allie has no patience for her mother's delusions, until they threaten her own dream: she's been saving for the perfect dress for her first prom. But, her mother spends the money on the horses. Longshots is the story of two people disappointed and disgusted by the priorities of the other until their confrontatin leads to an emergency on the farm that forces them to come together.
