Nine-year-old star, Eva Brunjes delivers quite an impressive performance which is on a par with other emerging young talent such as Dakota Fanning and Abigail Breslin. It's a bit morbid if you take it too seriously, but the ending is very clever. Creative and the characters are well thought out and created. Rather wacky story. Wonderful acting and well developed story.

Monica is the princess of her picture perfect world until her mom's new boyfriend comes to stay for one disaster filled weekend. As Monica's pets, Speedy the tortoise, Kevin the budgie and Brian Robbit meet untimely and dramatic ends, Monica becomes that the boyfriend is responsible. She recreates the crime scenes and decides that the only way to keep the other pets alive is to get rid of him. Screened at Edinburgh Film Festival.
