FOLKTALES FROM AROUND THE WORLD: YOSHI, THE LANTERN MAKER is in the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival - it may not be a regular, endorsed title

Description:

In a retelling of the Japanese folktale "The Stonecutter," a humble artisan becomes a prince, the sun, a cloud and a rock before discovering he's most content when he's simply himself - a craftsman who makes beautiful lanterns.

KIDS FIRST!® Adult Juror Comments:

I was unfamiliar with this Japanese folktale and thoroughly enjoyed it. This is part of the "Folktales from Around the World" series, all of which are simply produced, well narrated and most enjoyable. It's a great way to expose young kids to stories from another culture. The moral of this story, about being happy being yourself is one anyone can relate to.
