I have recently watched Mud, and I must say that it was exceptional, entertaining and pleasantly intense. I attended this movie at the 35th Annual Atlanta Film Festival. This was my first time ever going to a film festival, and it was an amazing experience. I interviewed Ray McKinnon, who played Senior, the main character's father, and he gave me some insight into the movie implying that this movie is a sort of coming-of-age story for an adult and a boy, a story of love and a story of reality.

This movie follows a fourteen-year-old boy named Ellis (Tye Sheridan) and his best friend Neckbone (Jacob Lofland) who go to an island to claim a boat in a tree. They are surprised to find a man living in their boat. The man says that his name is Mud (Matthew McConaughey) and he is waiting for his true love Juniper (Reese Witherspoon.) Eventually Mud earns the boys trust, and even after Mud is able to leave with his boat running, he still stops again in danger to say goodbye to Ellis, leading to a whirlwind of danger and intensity and cannot be explained, but you can watch it in theaters.

I love this movie and recommend it to ages fourteen and up because it shows a lot of abusive scenes, intense language and violence. It deserves five out of five stars from me, for its pleasant intensity. Victoria Burns, age 14, KIDS FIRST! Film Critic.
