"RoboCop" is the all new, fast-paced, futuristic, crime fighting film. A modern rendition of the classic 80s film, "RoboCop" tells the story of Alex Murphy, a Detroit police detective becomes the target of a drug operation when he begins to look into their activities. Alex is attacked and when his wife finds out that his chances of surviving are slim to none, she agrees to enter her husband into a program that turns wounded officers into the ultimate crime fighting machine. When Alex wakes up after months of tests and treatments, he has a hard time coping with what he has become and is conflicted about his personal life and his new profession.

I love this film. It is absolutely stunning in Imax. The special effects, CGI and sound effects are fantastic. This movie put me on the edge of my seat with its non-stop action and suspense. Something that really stood out is all the sound effects during the explosions and shoot outs. The storyline of this film definitely strays away from the original "RoboCop" of 1987 but, I think it's great and enjoyed the modernization. This film also touches on the subject of the American military presence in developing countries and how our government's ideas of "peace" are quite distorted. I really like when, in the beginning, there is a scene that shows drones and robots that look like something you would see in "Star Wars." They are considered "peacekeepers" even though they appear less than peaceful and it really shows the over use of military weapons and fear tactics that the government uses in the name of peace.

My favorite scene would be when Alex begins to regain his emotions after being shut down and he is able to use his senses as well as his robotic features and technology to solve his own murder at an incredible rate. I like this scene because it is very fast paced and a lot is revealed about many characters in the movie. It is also really cool to see how his programming works and how he is able to detect people's intentions and emotions before they have time to act on them.

My favorite character is Alex Murphy, played by Joel Kinnaman, because he goes through so much in this film. It's really cool to see his character development throughout the movie. He loses everything because of his injuries and almost loses his life, and when he gets it back he's very conflicted on whether or not he wants his wife and son to have to deal with his new condition and if he wants to be so controlled by his creators. Joel does a wonderful job portraying all of the internal conflict of his character and also shows the robotic lack of personality and numbness that Alex experiences.

I give this film 4.5 out of 5 stars because it is very entertaining, extremely action-packed and visually stunning. I recommend it for ages 13 to 18 because of the strong violence and weapon use. So, be sure to check out "RoboCop" in theaters now! Reviewed by KIDS FIRST! Film Critic Raven D, age 16.
