Lovely short live action student film. Set on a playground, this short film shows a young girl and her grandmother. The girl is acting bored. Grandma tells her to go and play. She plays by herself for a bit, but then gets bored once again. A few other girls are playing with a ball that is thrown in her direction. She brings it back and hopes they'll ask her to play with them. Instead, they make fun of her because she is carrying around a stuffed animal. She becomes discouraged and goes back to playing alone. There is another girl playing on the monkey bars whose mom shows interest in her child, unlike the protagonist's grandmother. She joins the girl on the monkey bars and they both fall down laughing. The protagonist realizes that the other girl uses a wheelchair and all of a sudden, she realizes her life isn't all bad. It's a lovely awakening about recognizing the positive things in your life. The production values of the film are quite good. The location and costumes are very realistic. Video and audio quality are quite acceptable and would work well for the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival. For a five minute short, it tells a compelling story. I love the message about inclusion. Recommended for ages 5 to 12 and I give this 4 out of 5 stars.
