This version is more historically accurate than others, though it contains implied violence and has too simple a resolution. Kids four and up liked this, even though they didn't understand the story line. 48 min. Ages 5-8 Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment

STORIES FROM THE SEVENTH FIRE: THE FOUR SEASONS
by Storytellers Productions Inc.
The video series is inspired by an Ojibway prophecy: "Seven prophets came to the Indian people long ago. These prophets left us with seven predictions and each of these was called a fire, seven fires in all. It is said that in the time of the Seventh Fire, a new people would emerge to seek out the old teachings and find a way to live in harmony with one another and with Mother Earth. We are now in the time of the Seventh Fire." Wawhitchsey, Ojibway from Georgina Island, Canada.
The Stories from the Seventh Fire videos are the achievement of a unique collaboration: original work from an internationally famous first nations artist, Norval Morrisseau, talented Western Canadian animators, ancient legends and nature stories, and aboriginal actors and filmmakers who have produced these animated/live-action videos for a new generation of young and old alike.
Each of the four season's videos contains two stories (a Wesakechak tale and a Wolf tale) and is accompanied by a Teachers Guide containing curriculum links and a wide range of classroom activities related to each video. These four videos are available in Cree, English and English with French subtitles. The stories are presented through a combination of animation and live-action wildlife footage and each video has a seasonal theme. The fifth video, Shared Visions, is a companion documentary featuring the making of Stories from the Seventh Fire and interviews with the artists, actors and animators involved in the production.

A council is called by all the creatures strong enough to attend, and Raven agrees to ask the Creator to send winter away. The Creator listens to Raven and the glaciers moved to the North. As a reminder of the time when it was always winter, the Creator then turned one out of every ten black bears completely white. These bears, now found only in a special place off the Pacific Coast, are called Spirit Bears (Kermode Bears). It is said that if they disappear, perpetual winter will return.
