First released in May 1970 amidst the swirl of The Beatles\u2019 breakup, <em>Let&nbsp;It&nbsp;Be<\/em> now takes its rightful place in the band\u2019s history. Once viewed through a darker lens, the film is now brought to light through its restoration and in the context of revelations brought forth in Peter Jackson\u2019s multiple Emmy Award\u00ae-winning docuseries, The Beatles: Get Back. <em>Let&nbsp;It&nbsp;Be,<\/em> , brings viewers into the studio and onto Apple Corps\u2019 London rooftop in January 1969 as The Beatles, joined by Billy Preston, write, and record their GRAMMY Award\u00ae-winning album&nbsp;<em>Let&nbsp;It&nbsp;Be,<\/em> with its Academy Award\u00ae-winning title song, and perform live for the final time as a group. It also includes the rehearsals behind what was the very last live performance ever from the four geniuses of Liverpool: The Beatles. This is an essential testimony for music lovers that I enjoyed in every aspect. Not only is it a piece of history, but it is also a delightful music video in a longer format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ringo Starr, John Lennon, George Harrison and Paul McCartney stopped touring in 1966. They focused on solo careers, but after a three-year hiatus, they got back together to record some new songs and a final album. <em>Let it Be <\/em>was produced by filmmaker Peter Jackson, who produced <em>The Beatles: Get Back, <\/em>the docuseries of almost eight hours that previously aired on Disney+ in 2022. <em>The Beatles: Get Back: The Rooftop Concert <\/em>is a film that had a theatrical release in January 2022 and then on BluRay and DVD in July of the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Let it Be<\/em> is a condensed experience that combines rare footage of the musicians recording studio with the famous rooftop concert in around 80 minutes, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg who also directed music videos for The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. It premiered in 1970 and won an Oscar for Best Music and Original Song Score, and a Grammy for Best Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or a Television Special. We see the tension, the laughs, the joy, and the balance they kept as a band. It is interesting to watch the musicians in their mid-to-late 20s, coming together and working in the studio together, sometimes accompanied by their wives and children. My favorite part is when The Beatles sing \u201cBesame Mucho,\u201d an iconic bolero written in 1932 by Mexican songwriter Consuelo Velasquez which is the song the band recorded as an audition at EMI in 1962.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film\u2019s message is that music is a universal language and makes people come together, from the joy of a group of musicians playing to the profound effect in audiences that gather together and form an instant bond.<br><br>I give <em>Let it Be <\/em>5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages12 to 18, plus adults. <em>Let it Be<\/em> is now streaming on Disney+.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Available for the first time in over 50 years, Let It Be, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg\u2019s original 1970 film about The Beatles, is now available on Disney+.
