The stories include Abby and\nher stepfamily visiting Elmo for a fun \u201cfather\/kids\u2019 night\u201d learning about the\ndifferent things families do together. We get to see the challenges that Cookie\nMonster has trying to make something for his mom on Mother\u2019s Day. He just likes\nto gobble everything up because it reminds him of cookies (surprise!).&nbsp; For Father\u2019s Day, Rosita makes something\nspecial for her dad since he\u2019s away from home. We also get to see a\ngrandparent\u2019s party and learn about different grandparents such as Baby Bear\u2019s\ngrandpa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main\ncharacters are, of course, Elmo, Abby, Rudy (Abby\u2019s step brother) and Rosita.\nThe puppeteers are fabulous with all their actions and different voices. The\nsongs are so stinking cute, catchy and easy to follow along with. My favorite\npart is when Cookie Monster eats the locket he planned to give to his mom\nbecause the picture reminded him of how they eat cookies together. You probably\nguessed that my favorite character is Cookie Monster. Family is important no matter what you do or how\ndifferent yours is. These episodes also touch on ways to have self-control,\nacknowledge your differences and give love to your family and friends. They\nalso show that it is okay to be nervous about meeting new people, and that you\ncan still celebrate even if your special person isn\u2019t there. Each episode makes\nme want to celebrate family even more.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Sesame Street: Celebrate Family<\/em> is very kid friendly. It promotes\npositive social behavior and treating one another appropriately. There is no\nbad language and nothing risky or dangerous that children might imitate. I give\nthis DVD 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 2 through 11. Adults will\nalso enjoy this show. This DVD is available now, so look for it. She discovers that\nnot all families are the same; each has their own way of doing things.&nbsp;The\nsecond story involves Cookie Monster and Mother\u2019s Day. He is great at creating\ngifts, but always ends up devouring them. He finally is able to restrain\nhimself from eating the cookies he gives his mom as a gift for Mother\u2019s Day.\nThe next story is about Father\u2019s Day and how Rosita wants to make a special\nvideo for her father.&nbsp;In order to complete the video she needs help from\nher friends.&nbsp;Then there\u2019s a story about Abby and her new stepbrother\nRudy!&nbsp;The last adventure shows happiness through a special celebration\nheld for grandparents at Hopper\u2019s store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The characters we see here include Elmo (Kevin Clash), Abby (Leslie\nCadabby), Rudy, Rosita, Cookie Monster (David Rudman), Oscar (Caroll Spinney),\nSlimy, Prairie Dawn (Fran Brill), Elmo\u2019s Father (Bill Barretta) and Abby\u2019s\nFather.&nbsp;I love all the messages that are taught in the different episodes.&nbsp;Each\ngives cute and warm fuzzy feelings as it focuses and draws attention to the\nimportance of family relationships, family support and having family right by\nyour side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/kidsfirstnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/SS.Celebratef.c.jpg?resize=225%2C97&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3816\" width=\"225\" height=\"97\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/kidsfirstnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/SS.Celebratef.c.jpg?resize=300%2C129&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/kidsfirstnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/SS.Celebratef.c.jpg?resize=768%2C331&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/kidsfirstnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/SS.Celebratef.c.jpg?w=917&amp;ssl=1 917w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite moment on this DVD is when Elmo Face Times his\ngrandparents.&nbsp;It is a simple gesture and form of communication, but their\nreaction of joy and happiness is priceless.&nbsp;It teaches us an important\nlesson that, even if distance separates us from family, there is always a way\nto keep in touch, especially in the world of modern technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I rate this DVD 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 3 to 11 and\nadults as well.&nbsp;This DVD is so adorable, with meaningful lessons and\nteachable moments. This movie is musical, creative, filled with\npositive messages and very importantly, is representative of real life\nrelationships. Throughout the series, topics such as siblings, step-siblings,\nparents and grandparents are discussed. Different songs about different members\nof one\u2019s family showcase the love and admiration Elmo and his friends feel\ntowards their family. The film is very well written, with loads of content and\nhumor that kids will absorb and enjoy thoroughly. The cheerfulness of Elmo and\nthe Sesame Street community ought to make your kids want to laugh, play and\nsing along with them. Elmo even says that \u201cfamilies come in all different\nshapes and sizes.\u201d I am impressed by the progressive way that families are depicted\nin this show. All the families are different; none are a cookie-cutter\nmother-father-kid experience. Elmo and his friends also teach kids to love\ntheir families and treat their parents with love and respect. This DVD shows\nthat family isn\u2019t necessarily what you are born into. It\u2019s the connections, relationships\nand bonds that you build with the people around you, regardless of age, color\nor any other hereditary aspect. Family is thicker than blood and that message is\nwell portrayed here. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I give this DVD 5 out of 5 stars and recommend\nit for ages 2 to 10, as well as adults.
