Now a teenager, Dora keeps her spirit and deals with identity, like most teens nowadays do, and continues teaching us lessons\u2014and some Spanish. My favorite character is\nclearly the favorable Dora who shows strength and courage throughout the film.\nFor example, her parents doubt her, but she has a light inside her that will\nprove them wrong. She wants to show her friends, family and fellow explorers\nthat, just because she\u2019s young, she can be a leader and explore alongside her\nparents. I love that the film features a predominantly Latinx cast. The Spanish\nparts feel really natural and funny. The Latina\nfemale lead really inspired me in so many ways. I learned from her spirit and\nher willingness to be herself.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My favorite\nscene is unquestionably when Dora and her friends find the Lost City of Gold. We\nsee how the treasure hunters have tried stealing something that wasn\u2019t their\nown. There is no bad language or violence or anything to be concerned about. &nbsp;It comes out on Digital November 5 and on DVD\/Blu-ray November 19, 2019. She\ndoesn\u2019t know much about what going to school is and real life in a city seems\nmore dangerous than the jungle does. On a field trip, Dora goes back to doing what\nshe knows best: having adventures. Dora and some classmates accidentally end up\nin the jungle, and she helps her parents solve a mystery and find&nbsp;the Lost\nCity of Gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fCNwY_pxhwU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I love that this film keeps the essence of the original Dora\nanimated series and brings to the big screen elements from the TV show, like\nsome of the animated characters. I like that family is important to Dora, and that\nshe is a good example for younger children. The acting is very good and\neveryone fits nicely in their roles. Eugenio Derbez, one of the producers of\nthe film, is surrounded with a great group of actors. He plays Alejandro\nGutierrez, an explorer related to Dora, although she doesn\u2019t know him well. Eva\nLongoria and Michael Pe\u00f1a play Dora\u2019s parents, and they are funny and add a\nwarm touch. I was actually excited to\nsee the film since Dora is such a classic and 2020 (next year) will be the 20th\nanniversary of the character. Dora struggles to assimilate in high school and has\ndifficulty making friends.&nbsp; Meanwhile,\nher parents who are professors and explorers, go missing while on their latest\nquest to find the Lost City of Gold.&nbsp;\nThrough a series of events, Dora and her new friends are off to save the\nday!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As someone who grew up watching the show,\n<em>Dora the Explorer<\/em>, I am delighted at all the little tidbits in the movie\nthat are reminiscent of the cartoon.&nbsp;\nDora speaks to the camera, carries her nifty backpack everywhere she\ngoes and she throws in a Spanish word every once in awhile &#8211; \u201cCan you say Delicioso?\u201d\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Isabela Moner portrays Dora so well. She\nfits the part perfectly; looks like her cartoon counterpart; sounds like her\nand is Peruvian herself! They stand out too much from the live-action cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The message of the movie is to stay true\nto yourself, which is the advice given to Dora early on. Now a teenager, Dora keeps her spirit and deals with identity, like most teens nowadays do, and continues teaching us lessons\u2014and some Spanish.
