Film Critic, age 11<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">Brooklyn<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">, directed by John Crowley, is a romantic drama that I would watch again and again because of its heartfelt moments and the relationship between the characters. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><em><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">Brooklyn <\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">is about a girl named Eilis who lives in Ireland with her sister and mother and is going to America to find a better opportunity for work. \u00a0It is hard for her when she first moves to America because she grieves over leaving her family and is terribly homesick. \u00a0She falls madly in love in New York. Eilis returns to Ireland for a family crisis and she puts herself in a very complicated situation, making her wonder if she ever wants to leave Ireland again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">The acting in <em>Brooklyn<\/em> makes it realistic and a pleasure to watch.\u00a0 The cast members are chosen very well and they play their parts with a lot of character and emotion. \u00a0My favorite character is Eilis, played by Irish American actress <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: #333333\">Saoirse Ronan. \u00a0She is a perfect <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">Eilis because she is so believable which helps build the audience&#8217;s love for the story. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">I really felt the love between Tony and Eilis. \u00a0Tony, played by Emory Cohen, is sweet, funny, and sweeps Eilis off her feet when she is vulnerable and needing comfort the most.\u00a0 Tony\u2019s Italian heritage both attracts her and stretches her as a character.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">The settings, scenery and costumes are appropriate for the time period of the 1950s and really captures the essence of w<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Cambria; color: black\"><a onfocus=\"this.blur()\" onclick=\"ps_imagemanager_popup(this.href,'Mia3.jpg','1200','1500');return false\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/kidsfirstnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mia3.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"160\" vspace=\"5\" hspace=\"5\" height=\"200\" border=\"0\" align=\"right\" title=\"Mia3.jpg\" alt=\"Mia3.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/kidsfirstnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/thumbs\/th-Mia3.jpg?resize=160%2C200\" \/><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">hat it life would have been like in Ireland and Brooklyn at that time. \u00a0The costumes are very realistic and transport the viewer to a different time<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\"> and place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">My favorite scene is when two of her boarding school friends teach Eilis how to eat spaghetti properly in preparation for dinner with Tony&#8217;s Italian family. \u00a0This scene got many people in the audience laughing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 16.2pt; line-height: normal\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial; color: black\">The moral to this story is that \u201chome is home.\u201d \u00a0We also see that home is where the heart is.
