Film &#8220;Stranger&#8221; just joined the film festival lineup. Set in a\u00a0beautiful rural village in Iran, a new teacher moves to the village to educate the children. A young widow attracts the attention of the\u00a0teacher, but a local, wealthy (and married) villager\u00a0is in love with the widow. The villager schemes to run the teacher out of town and torches the school to force him to leave. The teacher saves a student caught in the fire, but leaves\u00a0so the village can live in peace.<\/p>\n<p>Much<a onfocus=\"this.blur()\" onclick=\"ps_imagemanager_popup(this.href,'Stranger4.jpg','180','135');return false\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/marketing\/wp-content\/uploads\/Stranger4.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Stranger4.jpg\" height=\"113\" alt=\"Stranger4.jpg\" hspace=\"5\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kidsfirst.org\/marketing\/wp-content\/uploads\/.thumbs\/.Stranger4.jpg?resize=150%2C113\" width=\"150\" align=\"right\" vspace=\"3\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a> of the interest of this film is the view of life in rural Iran that we\u00a0never see.\u00a0The basic issues\u00a0woman&#8217;s right in Iranian society\u00a0are portrayed here with the men wearing polo shirts and the women dressed from the 14th century. The male dominated society is portrayed when the wealthy villager forces his wife to accept the possibility of the young widow\u00a0living in their home and the widow&#8217;s brother threatens to beat her if she does not obey his orders. However, the widow does own a small piece of property that her recently deceased father bequeathed to\u00a0her.<\/p>\n<p>The film is beautifully shot\u00a0and although sub-titled, easy to follow.
