Rating the Title, Once You've Endorsed it.
Now that you've endorsed the title, making sure that it meets the KIDS FIRST! baseline criteria of
  • No gratuitous violence or sexuality;
  • No physical or verbal abuse;
  • No bias in terms of race, gender, culture or religion;
  • No condescension toward children and
  • No unsafe behaviors.
Your next job is to rate it.

Those titles that receive the highest scores are given an All-Star rating. All-stars are those titles that exemplify quality in terms that KIDS FIRST! uses to identify it.
They are very appealing to the age of the audience for which they are intended.
The content is considered excellent in terms of age-appropriateness, accuracy, modeling behaviors, and respect of children.
They exceed the KIDS FIRST! base-line criteria.
Children have told us they would watch them more than once.
They have excellent production qualities in terms of sound, visual presentation, costuming, sets, music, and similar production aspects.

"All-Star" rating:
KF All-Star

Titles that meet or exceed the criteria receive an "Endorsed" or two-star rating.
They appeal to the age of the audience for which they are intended.
The content is considered to be good in terms of age-appropriateness, accuracy, modeling behaviors, and respect of children.
They meet or exceed the KIDS FIRST! base-line criteria.
Children tell us that they
might watch them more than once.
They have good production qualities in terms of sound, visual presentation, costuming, sets, music, and similar production aspects.
"Endorsed Title" rating:

Titles that meet the baseline criteria, but require some extra consideration on the part of the parent or caregiver receive a "Qualified Endorsement" or one-star rating.
Their audience appeal may vary in terms of the age intended. For example, some titles may have visuals that appeal to one age, and narrative that appeals to another.
Their content may be inconsistent in terms of age-appropriateness, accuracy, modeling behaviors, and respect of children.
They still must meet the KIDS FIRST! base-line criteria.
They do not hold children's attention throughout.

Their production qualities are lacking in excellence in terms of sound, visual presentation, costuming, sets, music, and similar production aspects.
