Description:

Zelda, an evil sorceress, plans to wreak havoc on the peaceful land of Swan Lake by stealing the Forbidden Arts - a magical treasure that gives its keeper unlimited power. As part of her evil plan, Zelda kidnaps Odette, the Swan Princess, and demands that Prince Derek turn over the Forbidden Arts in exchange for her safety. The Prince then must face Zelda in an exciting showdown to rescue the Swan Princess!

KIDS FIRST!® Adult Juror Comments:

A modern fairy tale revolving around hidden treasure and a blooming romance. The artwork provides a wonderful back drop. The personalities of the animals were funny and the film contains many lively and exciting songs. Wonderful child-centered humor. For example, the bird mutters, "legs, don't fail me now." and then retorts, "What am I running for? I should be flying - I am a bird!" This almost seemed like a musical for children. The caliber of the music is sophisticated and professional enough that adults will enjoy it as well. The Queen and Rogers make a terrific attempt at dancing the tango. Beautiful portrayal of an idyllic kingdom, the medieval costumes and kingdom may motivate one to further explore the knights of old and magical places such as Camelot. The most appealing parts of this movie are the attractive artwork, subtle humor and marvelous musical score. It's easy to figure out that Zelda is the evil sorceress, the prince loves the princes, the queen is the lady in black. But, who is Rogers? He seems to be torn between his affection for Zelda and his respect for the Queen.

KIDS FIRST!® KID Juror Comments:

Children loved the artwork and the funny animals. "My friends would like it a lot, because there is a prince and a princess." The kingdom reminded one of Disney World - with a castle and a princess. "I loved it so much because it had all the colors in it- the color of the sky was perfect." The girls were enchanted with the love story and the magical kingdom. "It was good movie. I would bring it to school." Kids were able to follow the story line and wanted to watch it over and over. "I dream about animals and princes and princesses. All the animals reminded me of my puppy."
