KIDS FIRST! FILM and VIDEO FESTIVAL 2001
Our
2001 Festivals Took Place
March through June, 2001
in Nine Locations, Including:
- New York City
- Mt. Kisco
- Salt Lake City
- Park City
- St. Thomas
- St. John
- Santa Fe
- Fort Wayne
- Oklahoma City.
We showcased ten finalists for the KIDS FIRST! "Best Children's Film, Video or DVD of the Year," five each for two age categories: ages 2-6 and 6-12. The finalists were available to rent at local Hollywood Video stores. Voting was handled by Yahooligans.com. Children who attended the festivals voted there.
Our 2001 Festival was a collaboration between the Coalition for Quality Children's Media, Hollywood Video, Yahooligans, Borders Books, local child service organizations, and other sponsors. Key activities included:
1) Showcasing 10 nominees for the best children's films, videos and DVDs from 2000.2) Sneak previews of films to be released in 2001.
3) Junior Film Critics Club Training for kids ages 6-12.
4) Film Critiques by kids.
5) Voting for your favorite film, video or DVD at each festival location.

7) Rental of nominees from Hollywood Video.
