The great thing about Thomas is that he sometimes makes poor decisions which preschoolers can relate to, such as the time he was so interested in finding the perfect gift that he forgot to invite friends to Hiro's party. He admits when he is wrong and corrects his "silly" behavior. The slow pace of the stories makes viewers feel as if they are seeing a book come to life. Thomas is a pleasure to view. It's fun seeing some live action mixed in with the cartoons like when an engineer introduces the episodes and takes care of Sir Topham Hat's mother's bird. Our preschool viewers love Thomas. They love the trains. They love all the different characters, each with its own personality and job to do. They like seeing how all the trains work together to help solve problems. The music is catchy and many of our kids hummed along.
Through simple stories, kids learn about trains and also learn life lessons such as the idea that sometimes you can benefit from the help of friends.
