The film features a charming, puppet-themed retelling of the classic children's song Little Speckled Frogs. The story follows three speckled frogs sitting on a log singing a joyful tune. The three little frogs sing, dance and get up to a little mischief along the way.
These puppets are absolutely adorable. The set is very unusual and I love it. The use of color, space and using common household items to create a cheerful atmosphere is quite well executed. Children can appreciate this, and perhaps be inspired to make sets of their own using things they find around the house or neighborhood. The storyline is simple the lyrics of the song, but where the writing shines are the small snippets of narration which add a little fun and comedy and enhance the overall experience.
While I adore the puppets and find their hodgepodge set appealing and charming, one issue I have is the background, which is white. Come on guys, you can make that so much more interesting.
It is a simple short film that would make a great interstitial at a film festival and young children can enjoy for a few minutes, maybe even sing along to.
The story is about three speckled frogs sitting on a log, and one by one, they jump into the cool water.
I give this film 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 2 to 7, plus adults. Reviewed by Cassidy S., KIDS FIRST! Juror
