Description: |

A delightful animated tale of Fievel, the brave little mouse, who journeys from Russia to America with his family seeking a new life free from cat persecution. Fievel's adventure begins after he's lost at sea and washes ashore in New York City. | |
KIDS FIRST!® Adult Juror Comments: |

Former Disney animator, Don Bluth and Steven Spielberg took a sad tale and made it enjoyable in this animated story about a Russian. Great songs, (Oscar-nominated, "Somewhere Out There") lovable characters, and a storyline that addresses friendship, death and separation. Fievel is sweet and brave. It's filled with action and suspense and good messages about power, freedom , "America" and cats. Definitely has parts that are too scary for kids under five. Motivates discussion about emigration and cultures. |

They were rooted to their seats. Loved Fievel's sweetness. Older kids liked the action and the suspense. Kids resonated to ideas such as: "Never give up, keep trying." "America is a place to find hope." "Not all cats (people) are bad." |
