Gives the history, life story, and brief examples of the work of Katherine Mansfield. Starts out slow with archival still images and switches styles to live action reinactment of highlights of her life. Offers interesting insight into the life of a renegrade female writer at the turn of the century.
The ten minute bio-doc focuses on the astounding life of New Zealand short story writer Katherine Mansfield (1888-1923) and includes a mini-adaptation short film of her celebrated short story Miss Brill. Pursuing art and adventure across Europe, Katherine Mansfield lived and wrote with the Furies on her heels; but when she died aged only thirty-four she became one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. Ambiguous, craving love yet quarrelsome and capricious, she glittered in the brilliant circles of D.H. Lawrence and Virginia Woolf, her beauty and recklessness inspiring admiration, jealousy, rage and devotion.
