GIRL WHO CRIED FLOWERS, THE cover image
Very beautifully animated with bright and colorful illustrations. This unique story tells a thought-provoking message that will motivate discussion afterwards. The moral of selfishness and the true spirit of giving proliferates in this simple tale. Beautiful animation and a thoughtful story, but very sad. The choice of helping many over the love of one person is a difficult one.
Gold Award, KIDS FIRST! Best 2009. This is the first animated film created with Auryn's proprietary watercolor system. Adapted from the visual, inspiring fairytale by acclaimed author Jane Yolen, this moving narrative about the beauty of creation and the power of desire is brought to life in a painterly watercolor style. In ancient Greece, a mysterious orphan is discovered. At first the local villagers are wary of the strange girl who cries beautiful blossoms instead of tears. But in time they begin to treasure her magical gift and desire her flowers. Olivia, a kind and giving spirit resolves to spend her days thinking sad thoughts and crying mountains of flowers for the insatiable villagers. However, sudden love brings change when Olivia falls for a jovial farmer named Panos. Panos desires nothing from Olivia except her happiness and so, out of love, he forbids her from crying. But the villagers will not simply forsake their beloved "girl who cries flowers."
