GRANDFATHER
Kids enjoyed it. "It was a nice story, and made me think about my own family. " "It was kind of sad because the Grandpa never got to go back to California." "My grandparents moved here from Germany and they go back to visit sometimes." "It was kind of a story about being homesick and family." "Everyone was very loving and understanding." "The pictures were like from a storybook. They were okay." "It made me think about how I would miss my family and friends if I moved away but also how cool it would be to go to a different place and make new friends."
Wonderful short that offers a very positive story that should make kids proud to be who they are and proud of where they come from - whether they have always lived in one place or have been transplanted. Also, it should instill pride in their families. The grandfather's stories told to the grandson and the dreams of going back to California make for good talking points for family history conversations. The visual presentation offers just enough details to hold your interest. The attire and toy details are very true to the era and place that this takes place. In a gentle way, it teaches respect for our family's values and history plus a little inter-generational bonding. It may make kids more interested in their family history and stories.
