FAERIE TALE THEATER: HANSEL AND GRETEL cover image
"We like this very much, because the children get home safely and they weren't hurt or sick or get baked in the oven. The bossy stepmother and the bad witch dies and the children break the spell." "It's funny and good." "Their father saved the day." "The stepmother is so mean, her heart is like a robber or a witch." "The boy reminds me of my big brother." "This was a really good old fairytale - the costumes and scenery looked real. The witch was scary, but Hansel and Gretyl got safely home. It made me appreciate my family, including my brother."
A well-loved fairy tale with an out-of-date and scary theme. Well-known voices of Joan Collins and Rick Schroder add to the appeal. An interesting way of exposing children to this popular fairy-tale, but remember that this was written in a different time, so expect stereotyping, poor parental decision making and a scary witch. The kids work together and exemplify family team work.
Faerie Tale Theatre brings to life 26 of the most magical fairy tales. Joan Collins, Rick Schroder and Paul Dooley star in Hansel and Gretel, the story of a brother and sister team that outsmarts a wicked witch and an even wickeder step mother and manages to find their way home after being lost in the treacherous woods.
