Kids learned that it is important to get along and although there were negative behaviors portrayed by the motorcycle gang, they were all rooting for the kids. The main message they got was to try to get along and work together. Kids found some of the part to be unrealistic, but still watched the whole movie. Their favorite character for most kids was Jimmy (JD) and their favorite part was how the kids worked together to defeat the gang.
The Daniels family moves to Florida, but Jimmy Daniels' real father is close behind with his biker gang to reclaim his son from his mother and stepfather. Jimmy soon teaches the kids of his new elementary school how discrimination is bad and the fun of boy scouts. A clear story line and stereotypical characters make this film easy for kids to follow and understand. While the sound and visual quality is inconsistent, it delivers an entertaining story about kids saving their parents. Kids would love to see kids their own age tricking the biker gang and saving their parents. The actors aren't too polished but that adds to the humor of the film. There is no profanity. When the kids are tricking and capturing the gang members, there is no real violence but clever tricks such as threatening them with bees and making them jump into the pool to escape. The humor is definitely age appropriate. One boy nicknamed "Preach" is made fun of for being religious but this is looked down upon and shows kids that being different is okay.
A coming of age movie about a group of boys and girls called "adventure scouts" who return from a camping trip to discover their small town is being held captive by a gang of motorcycle-riding knuckleheads. Using only their scouting knowledge and camping equipment, the kids take down the gang members one by one, reunite with family members and restore the community's sense of pride.
