Sid is a hit! Younger kids really enjoyed the first episode of Sid the Science Kid which is about wheels, what they do and how they are useful. These kids immediately became excited to see Sid as they regularly watch his show on PBS. Older children were expecting more and though they were engaged in watching the episode they were not as satisfied with this episode however, when told they didn't have to watch the whole show they did not want to stop watching! Both older and younger children loved the music in the video. The title song is catchy and the wheels song brought older kids to watch who originally didn't want to, along with the Big Idea.

This animated show features a curious young boy named Sid who has many questions about the world around him. It follows a format where Sid encounters a new concept in the morning, goes to school where he meets his friends and they learn about the science surrounding this new concept. In the episodes I watched, these included the wheel, incline plane and levers. While the animation and comedy are corny at best, there is definitely tangible educational and scientific benefits to be gained. I recommend this for ages 2 to 6 and give it 4 out of 5 stars. Sid the Science Kid has always been a favorite amongst small children and their parents. Sid has taught my children so much and practical things that help them understand the world around them. This title does exactly that and is very similar to the episodes that are shown on PBS. Sid is very respectful to his parents, baby sister, friends and teachers. Everyone around him encourages asking questions and opening their minds to learning new things. The catchy tune in the beginning is fun too. Overall kids will love this title and parents will love how unique it is compared to other shows for this intended age group.

Sid the Science KidTM is an inquisitive little boy who uses comedy to tackle questions kids have about basic scientific principles. Why do things work the way they do? He tries to answer each question and solve problems with the help of Teacher Susie, Sid's family as well as his classmates, May, Gerald and Gabriela. In this third volume, Sid and his friends learn all about simple machines, how animals communicate, the importance of dirt, what makes leaves special, bugs and more! Let's invent and investigate with our favorite scientist, Sid the Science Kid!
