I really love this documentary, it is full of so much heart and positive thinking. The story is a warm one that I believe will make kids want to do something similar. I watched it twice, because I had to show my husband how beautiful the actions of the children in the documentary are. The world is full of so much conflict that it is wonderful to see young people creating a bond between two forcefully separated native cultures. The interviews are very well done and the camera work is very good. I would love to see a feature length documentary on this subject. It flows well and is a joy to watch. Although I believe children and adults of all ages could benefit from watching this short documentary, I recommend it for ages 9 to 18 and give it 5 out of 5 stars. Following war in 1974, in which more than 200,000 Turkish and Greek Cypriots were displaced, the island of Cyprus has remained divided until today, separating the two communities that once lived together. The Turkish Cypriot community were made refugees fleeing to the north of the island, and the Greek Cypriots to the South, a separation with borders that remains until today. 'Common Ground' is a documentary about an art project between children of the two communities that they never actually met, but exchanged video messages between them and materials from their city, creating a communication bridge between them.
