COMMON GROUND (LISA MICHELLE) cover image
This film's flawless production matches its heart-warming and down-to-earth story telling. The use of natural lighting gives the film a simplistic and raw feeling. The kids' performances feel real and endearing. The film manages to appeal and relate to many groups, teaching valuable lessons about growing up. The film looks cinematic with its beautiful natural lighting and fluent camera work. The storyline is relatable. If you're a kid who has witnessed bullying, been bullied, or has lost a loved one. This film shows how one struggles from a child's point of view. Writer Lisa Michelle handles the subject matter beautifully. The structure, while typical, is coherent and hits all the right notes. A lot of the film is done through visual story telling rather than dialogue, which results in stronger performances and translates the content to kids easier. Every frame is lit and composed stunningly. There are fantastic drone shots and camera movements. Honestly the film is shot so professionally that it belongs on the big screen. The engaging subject matter and innocent child performances are suitable for kids and adults. Recommended for the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival. I give this film 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 6 to 18. Reviewed b Keefer B., KIDS FIRST! Film Critic
