I highly recommend this short. This exciting animated film held my attention the entire time. It is fun to explore the ocean with the two girls, trying to find the mysterious megalodon shark. It reminds me of the Star Trek TV show, with the space explorer costumes and the navigation equipment on the submarine. There is a sense of fear from knowing that this shark could chew through the submarine. The program shows a lot of imagination and has excellent educational value. It would help kids appreciate things such as the size and strength of dinosaurs. It also shows kids that their nearby aquarium is a great place to see marine life in live action. The storyline is fun, especially the chase scenes between the shark and the submarine. The most appealing thing about this show is the hint of a dangerous character. I believe children will enjoy this show due to its sense of adventure and discovery, with some science and history thrown in. The show flows well, makes sense and is very watchable. It has good scientific accuracy as far as the details of the sharks and the operation of the submarine. My favorite part is listening to the girls talk about whether the sharks' bite force is strong enough to penetrate the metal walls of the submarine. This gives the movie a scary element, enhanced with the music which reminded me of the movie Jaws. The message is about having respect and appreciation for mother nature's living creatures. It also demonstrates the importance of communicating clearly with your friends in life situations in order to accomplish a task. The girls tease each other in a good-natured way, without insulting one another. I rate this show 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 4 to 12. It would be particularly suited to a festival or special event that focuses on marine science, anthropology or history. Reviewed by Jeff M. and Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Adult jurors.
Introducing Dana, a feisty 10-year-old 'paleontologist in training' who (like Dan and Trek before her) who eats, sleeps and breathes dinos. So much so that her Dad made her a special backpack that she can transform into any dinosaur she wants. Dana's 12-year old sister Saara is up for playing dinosaurs. Fortunately for Dana, after a chance encounter with Trek, Dana can now see dinosaurs too! What's more, when Dana transforms her backpack, the dinosaurs think she's one of them. With ten new dinosaurs, including two prehistoric mammals, Dino Dana continues the tradition of imagining the awesomeness of the past into an adventure in the present.
