Quite enjoyable. This is a quirky, yet charming short is about a little girl who befriends a monster that can be a little full of himself. After moving to a new town with her father, Alissa meets a monster who likes to steal things. However, she shows him unexpected kindness and they wind up becoming friends. This reminds me of similar stories where unlikely friends are made. The storyline flows well, makes sense and is completely watchable. Some vocabulary may be over the heads of the target audience. I really enjoyed the story and its message: be kind to others, you never know who your next friend might be. Children would enjoy the focus on friendship.

The cinematography is well done such as when we see the details of the butterfly pin given to the monster. The actors are well cast, especially the little girl. There are not a lot of locations but they are well suited to the story.

Where this film falls short is the lighting. In some parts, it is so dark that you can't see what's going on. This definitely hurts the film's quality and the impact of the story. However, I still enjoyed this film very much and wished it was longer. I give it 4 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it for the KIDS FIRST! Film Festival. I recommend it for ages 5 to 12 as well as adults. Reviewed by Angel U. and Julie S., KIDS FIRST! Jurors.
