HERBIE & THE SMUSHIES: BULLIED AT THE DOG PARK cover image
This animated short addresses the issue of bullying, showing it from a dog's point of view. It has a happy ending, which I like and the dogs are all super cute. If you like dogs, you'll love this.

In the beginning, Herbie (a dog) is in the park with his human mom. Another dog takes Herbie's toy and refuses to give it back. After they go home, he makes friends with some other smushie-faced dogs.

It is well made with 2D animation. The animation is pretty simple, not great, but it's the story line that drives this film. The message about bullying is appropriate for humans, as well as dogs and the characters are all super cute. I really enjoyed the little theme song.

The message is: be happy that you are different and don't bully others. I like the anti-bullying message of the film. I never thought about dogs getting bullied before watching this film. My favorite character is Tony because he is very lovable.

I give this 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it or ages 4 to 8. If it helps to stop bullying, that's definitely a plus. Kudos to the director for taking on this difficult topic and giving it a fresh look, from a dog's point of view.

Based on my children's book; Herbie an adorable Boston Terrier gets bullied at the dog park and goes on a journey meeting new doggy friends as they all discuss how they were bullied and become friends through this bond.
