An Epic Journey is a short educational film about salmon is a fun film to watch. I really learned a lot about their life cycle.

This film is about the Skeena wild salmon life cycle. It explains all aspects of their life and really shows just how difficult their life can be.

This has a very interesting story line, and a completely true one. It actually shows some turning points with rising and falling action. This is very cool because it's an actual life cycle. There are lots of landscape shots, drone shots and even some underwater images. There is a really cool picture of a bunch of red salmon, taken in the water but over the fish. The camera work is very impressive. There is a combination of animated and actual images. Half is animated and the other half is live action. There is cool background music but it is way too loud and it is sometimes hard to hear the kids speaking. It is cool how they incorporate all the kids' voices into the salmon to explain the story. It really shows the life cycle of a salmon which is very interesting since I have never learned about it before.

The message is that the life of all animals is hard and we should not do things that make that even harder.

I give An Epic Journey 3.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 18, plus adults. By Avalon N., KIDS FIRST!

With more than 100 recordings from more than 50 youth aged 3-19 from across the Skeena region, this animation tells the life cycle story of Skeena wild salmon in an ever changing climate as they swim through and dodge all kinds of dangers and predators. Recorded during the pandemic and in isolation, children and youth stepped up to record their own voices and narration at home on their own devices. We collected each of those and wove the story together with beautiful artwork. Inspired by the educational Salmon Journey booklet designed by local artist, Leah Pipe, for the 5th Annual Invisible Migration Celebration
