When Spring Comes - The Story of Yugo, a Little Bear is so emotional. The storyline captured my attention with its adorable characters and I loved learning more about the culture of the Japan.

The story follows a little bear named Yugo, who lives with his parents and is very connected with his grandmother. The two see a "comedy show" in the park together and later that night, Yugo has a good time telling his family about his day out. Then, he moves out of town and is not very happy plus he has to adapt to his new home. However, in the midst of all this, the pandemic comes and a very sad thing happens in the little bear's family. So he stays strong, remembering all the pleasant times he had together.

What a sweet short film. I really like the relationship between Yugo and his grandma. The animation is terrific -- it is stop motion animation, with little stuffed animal characters, which I really like. The film takes place in Japan and the scene with the cherry blossoms stands out because of the connection it gives Yugo with his grandmother. Yugo is a happy child. I love watching him dance around and the shots of him as a baby are adorable. He has some hard moments, but it makes him stronger and more capable as he deals with those. The background music enhances every scene as it changes from upbeat and happy to melancholy. My favorite scene is when Yugo goes to Cherry Blossom Festival with his grandmother; it's a beautiful scene. I also enjoyed when Yugo remembers the best moments of his life and makes a drawing of them.

The film's message is that, even when life turns sad, you have into yourself to find a reason to live, and make today a happy day.

I give When Spring Comes - The Story of Yugo, a Little Bear 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 12, plus adults. By Anna Clara B., KIDS FIRST!

In the spring of 2020, Yugo's Grandmother travels from the countryside to spend some quality time with Yugo. The two see a comedy show in the park and later that night, Yugo enjoys telling his family about his adventure. However, the next day, Covid19 restrictions are put in place and Yugo is stuck at home. He learns that his grandmother is not feeling well. At first, Yugo patiently waits for things to return to normal, but eventually he gets bored and silently slips out of the house...
