The storyline is about a bright young student, Ruby Saint-Fleur, who snickers at her teacher, claiming that the information she is presenting is irrelevant to her life.
I really like this film. A near death experience drives home this film's message. Ruby's insurrection is clear from the get go and the teacher isn't haven't any of it. She's a little smart aleck until suddenly, she has an asthma attack and learns that perhaps what the teacher was trying to teach her might be relevant to her own survival.
This is well produced - from the camera work, to the editing, audio recording -- it's well done. I have to laugh at the propensity of having to solve an equation in the ambulance, but it drives home the message and "Miss Smarty Pants" has a wake up call. If only life was so simple... Kudos to Frank Harts for a great film with a message.
The film's message is about being open to learn what people are teaching you because they might just have your future in mind.
I give "Be True to Your School" 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 8 to 18. By Julie S., KIDS FIRST
