This short film is an explosion of creativity that uses a school environment as the background for examining personal expression in a group setting.

The film follows the main character, Kielo, who breaks out of her classroom environment into the halls of the school, exploring her own personal rhythm and movement. She is later joined by other students as they contribute to further exploration of movement as a group.

I found the exploration of movement here, by the lead character and later the group, to be exhilarating and fun. It is almost as if it takes place in a dream, with Kielo starting to move at her desk, and then escaping it by crawling underneath it, and emerging into the hallway where there are fewer boundaries. The background music and sounds perfectly accompany the piece and add a driving force to it. The costumes also are well selected -- I especially like the bright fuchsia jacket with epaulettes.

The film's message is about escaping the boundaries of our lives and exploring the natural movement of our bodies in time and space.

I give Kielo 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12 to 18, plus adults. By Julie S., KIDS FIRST!

Kielo finds it hard to sit still in class. She takes a break venturing into the corridors of her imagination. The film Kielo touches on the subject of love, support as well as contempt between young people in the school environment, with a focus on the convergence of neurodivergence and sisterhood/peer-hood. We all have a poetic body, that dances when? encouraged. It just needs to be given a chance to exist alongside the body that goes by the? rules and is used to shy away from expression.
