The story follows a bunny, a cow and a bear as they play outside. When they lose their dragon kite, they go searching for it in a stone structure. As they enter they find a beautiful garden with an abundance of fruit free for the taking. However, they aren't alone... and this animal doesn't appreciate them stealing. This is from Croatia but there is no dialogue so it's appropriate for younger children.
The story is simple and intriguing. It is completely fantastical but still relatable. The characters' actions and emotions feel real and like something I might do. It's easy to follow as well as logically developing. The animation is amazing. We get many shots from interesting angles, from bird's eye view to close ups of the characters. Every single shot impressed me! However if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the birds-eye view of the secret garden. It is beautiful and I could watch it for hours.
The characters are animated and don't talk, but the way they are animated really brings them to life - their fears, their happiness, confusion, disappointment. It all feels real even though they are far from human. My favorite part of the film is when the characters explore the secret garden, sampling fruit from the trees and turning different colors as they do so. It's fun exploring a new place. However, after their initial foray into the fruit sampling, the next thing you know a fuzzy animal is chasing them and nipping at their heels. It's time for them to get their kite and leave.
The music and sounds add to a perfect harmony. Neither one overpowers the others or is hard to listen to. I especially love the opening with the music complimenting the laughter and sounds of the characters. The music, animation and emotion all come together to create the most beautiful scene of the film full of color and life.
The film's message is not everything is yours. Just because you happen to find something doesn't mean no one else owns it or it is yours for the taking.
